# Sign in

You sign in to keep readings across devices. Telereader does not
require an account for in-browser reading.

## Sign-in methods

Telereader supports two ways in:

- **Password.** Email plus a password.
- **Magic link.** Email plus a link sent to that email; clicking
  the link signs you in for a session on the device that opened
  it.

The sign-in page lets you pick. The choice is per-session —
nothing locks you to one method.

## Reset a password

On the sign-in page, choose **Forgot password**. Enter the email
on the account. A reset link arrives at that address; opening it
takes you to a page that asks for the new password. The reset
link is single-use and short-lived.

## Delete an account

Account deletion is in the settings page under **Delete
account**. Confirming starts the deletion: every reading, every
audio file, every progress marker, every share is removed.

Deletion is final. Readings cannot be recovered after this point;
neither can the account itself.

## What stays after sign-out

Signing out clears the session on the device. Local-only
readings stay in the browser. Saved readings stay in the
account, ready for the next sign-in. Nothing else persists.
