Error messages

This page collects the error messages Telereader shows users, sorted alphabetically. Each entry has the exact string, what happened, and what to do next. The strings come from the codebase — not from this document — so when the app changes a message, the docs are updated to match.

Account created but we couldn't open checkout. Try the Subscription page.

Your account was created and you are signed in, but the follow-up to the payment screen did not open. The account is real and ready; only the checkout window failed.

What to do: open the Subscription page from the menu and start the checkout from there.

Password must be at least 8 characters.

The password you entered during sign-up or password reset is shorter than the minimum length.

What to do: pick a longer password and try again.

Sign-in failed. Check your credentials.

The email and password combination you entered did not match any account.

What to do: confirm the email is the one on the account, retype the password, or use the magic-link option from the sign-in page.

Sign-up failed. Try again.

The sign-up request did not complete. The account was not created.

What to do: retry the sign-up. If it keeps failing on the same input, the bug tracker at github.com/aybabtme/telereader.ai/issues is the right place to file it.

The reader tried to generate audio for the reading and something went wrong. The reader stopped before any work was billed.

What to do: try again — most causes are transient. If the same reading keeps failing, the bug tracker is the place to tell us, with the title of the reading.
